Technopreneurship

is defined as entrepreneurship in the field of technology. Wherein it is connected to high tech ventures in ICT, electronics, internet, life sciences and biotech. In technopreneurship there are some service firms where technology is critical to their mission, such as: e-Bay, FEDEX, SMART money transfer, e-learning. But before anything else let me define the two words associated with technopreneurship. The entrepreneur and entrepreneurship what are the difference between the two. Well entrepreneurs are people who enter into new and pioneering ventures. They are whole-brained, meaning he/she uses both the left brain (logical) and right brain (creative). On the other hand, entrepreneurship is defined as starting up a new business. So that is the differences of the two. I learned in the discussion that this subject, technopreneurship has followed a course model named as SEED, where the meaning of it is S for Self Mastery, E is for Environment Mastery, other E refer as Enterprise Mastery, and lastly D is for Development of business plan. Well, I also understand deeper the meaning of the SEED course model. Let me first explain what is Self Mastery, in my own words, it is developing and knowing one’s self and personality as well as one’s attitude. Moreover, as what I have learned Self-mastery passion comes from knowing yourself as well as Self-mastery brings passion. When you know yourself, you know what you want and do not want. So when you know yourself deeply it is easy for you to define what your passion is really. It is also explained there that what is a self-mastered person, it does not have need high IQ but does need high EQ and AQ. Also they are naturally a/an performer where they are competitive and efficient; also an epicure which are sensual and cheery and lastly a boss that takes charge and love a good fight. Moreover, they are whole-brained and have a personal vision and recognize their strengths and lastly they know their weaknesses. Another part of SEED course model is Environment Mastery, in my own words it is refer to evaluating one’s society and knowing what are needed in its society and what are the possible that you can contribute to it. In discussion it explained there that environment mastery is about generating business ideas and seeking opportunities out from his or her environment through serendipity walks, it refers to thinking while suddenly you did not expect you come up with an idea, also during crises because it sometimes make you rich, the other one is through trends because when you know the latest trends you will know on what are the possible ideas for it and some other ways where you can generate ideas. Since we have self-mastered person what about environment-mastered person, it refers to someone who understands the industry he/she is in it, one who sees the opportunities, not the problems, who is always on top of the situation instead of being under the situation, and is the organization/industry innovator and lastly strategist. More of the course model SEED is the Enterprise Mastery, in my own words it refers to knowing how to buy and sell as well as the cycle of consumer and producer where they are both factors in running a business. Well, it is explained that this kind of mastery refers on how to run a business. This also pertains to the knowledge of the different enterprise disciplines such as: Creating the Business, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Financial Management, and Risk Management. What really is an enterprise-mastered person? It understands and integrates the functions of management (marketing, human resource, operations, and finance), also understands and integrates the process of management (planning, organizing, directing, and controlling) and lastly leads and inspires rather than manage. Lastly the Development of a business plan, in my own words it means that knowing how to develop and organize one’s business in a documentary form. In discussion, it covers writing the business plan, presenting and defending the business plan, and lastly adding refinements to the presented business plan. On the other hand, there are four types of entrepreneurship. First, the Incremental type, such as Routine business, modest novelty Ex. (new coffee shop, new BPO). Second, Imitative type, refers to imitation of venture, same business model and template Ex. new regional branch, franchised operations. Third, Rent-seeking type, refers to Business that utilizes standards, regulations and laws to share in value of enterprise, Ex. Coca Cola Export. Fourth, Innovative type refer to Business based on innovation Ex. new memory chip. It also added to the discussion what are the different characteristics of technopreneurs. It states there that it should be hard working, self-confident, builds for the future, profit-oriented, goal-oriented, persistent, copes with failure, responds to feedback, demonstrates initiative, willing to listen, sets own standards, copes with uncertainty, committed, builds on strengths, reliable and has integrity and finally a risk-Taker. I also learned what makes an entrepreneur a technopreneur. A technopreneur is a technology idea owner who ventures to make his idea a commercial reality while an entrepreneur is the one who gets a technology idea, finds an opportunity to make it a commercial reality. It also shows there the different technology ventures such as in local the smart link where they deals with computer hardware and software, Repairs, Networking and Computer ad LCD Rentals. (OCW) or in short they are a computer shop, an example of technopreneurship. The other local business is the lane system where it is a software integration development. While on national there is Netopia an internet café and yehey.com an internet portal. Lastly one good example in international is the youtube a video sharing website. We also discussed about some basic facts one of these is businesses start from ideas, but ideas alone do not make a business. Of course, when you start a business it should be in reality not in an idea only. The other fact in business is customers do not buy ideas, they buy your products/services that is true your customer should not steal an idea from and make it on their own, sometime it happens when a certain customer gets the idea of your business then he will steal it from you and even develop it so in the end you lost in the business world because your former customer beats you in the business world; and lastly fact in business is that customers pay the price; value is what they get as what I understood in this last fact the customer should not after on the price or they should not think of the price of your product instead to continue your business without making the customer will not buy your product you should also make them say that when they buy your product it should be worthy buying for not only the price it counts but the most important in selling products in your business is the value of the product contains so that the customer will love your product and as well as the value of your product. It also discussed that the different technopreneurship ecosystem the human resources component, environment, laws & policies, and lastly the financial resources. Well, the human resources as we dig deeper to it compose of research who is thinker, idea generator and innovator. It also composes of developer who is technical people and implementer. Moreover, who is also scanner, marketing people and a financer. Another component of ecosystem is environment. It is made up of science parks and incubation center, academic institution, internet access for communication, geographic accessibility and venture mentoring services/support. Next other component of technopreneurship ecosystem is the Laws and Policies Intellectual Property Rights Office, Technology Licensing Office which facilitates commercialization of inventions, and Legal Services. Another component is Financial Component made up of Venture Capitalist and Investors, Business Sector, Funding Agencies, and Financial Services (i. e. Accounting). We also discussed the different Academe and Research Institutions: Ateneo de Davao University, Brokenshire College, Cor Jesu College, Davao Doctors College, Holy Child School of Davao, Jose Maria College, St. Mary’s College, Interface Computer College, University of Immaculate Concepcion, University of Mindanao, University of the Philippines Mindanao, and lastly University of Southeastern Philippines. These are the three crucial common components for business: Excellent market opportunity, Superb entrepreneur (and management team) as well as Resources needed to start the company and make it grow. Excellent market opportunity made up of what are the customers needed also the timing, if there will be an inadequate planning then it will lead to costly mistakes. The technopreneur and management team which define even with the right opportunity, the business will be successful if led by a person with strong entrepreneurial and management skills. The resources means entrepreneural frugality means: Low overhead, a high productivity, Minimal ownership of capital assets. Lastly, I have learned in the discussion that the common mindset of parents to their children is go to school, get good grades, graduate and get a job. Well, this mindset is really true to my parents. It is also they want to happen to me to graduate in in my school which is in the University of Southeastern Philippines and after it in the future get a good job and of course help them as a return to their sacrifices when I’m still young and also will be able to be independent and help myself. For me, this kind of mindset is just a shallow plan for someone in life. We also discussed the alternative mindset which I also like and I guess more effective. Same as goes in going to school, get good grades, graduate, and build an own company. Well, the alternative mindset is much effective and more progressive for someone who will plans for his life. For my own opinion, this kind of mindset is present in this generation one good example of this home based, outsourcing projects works. Well, honestly this is one of the reasons why I also come up with the course of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology because someday I want to be one of those persons who graduated in the field of computer and took this kind of job because their clients are in other countries or foreigners. I also think that if your clients will be in other countries and other nationalities then it will be challenging and surely I can mold myself in terms of what I know in computer and I believe I can explore more about it. On the other hand, the alternative mindset also makes me inspire more to become technopreneur in the future because aside from generating new ideas, building your own company, the most important thing is you can help the country or your society a more uplifted economy place. Well, the thought about this is when we study and graduate in our courses. It is significant to also help our economy in developing it especially here in the Philippines as what I observed it is not really like other countries such as Japan and USA in terms of economy as well as technology. We’ll all I can say is that we should think of what are the possibilities that we can contribute to our society. For me, it is good in having a contribution to the country and at the same time you are enjoying with your passion. The alternative mindset really inspires me to do such thing that will help the country as well as the people living in it. That will make the people living in modernize living and comfortable way which also an important reminder in a way where it will not make people irresponsible and lazy but instead will make them easy and help the works more fast and progressive. Finally, I have learned different phases of technopreneurship and the most important of all that also inspires and helps to do something for this country the alternative mindset it helps a lot in me. And the SEED model course I believe that this model course is effective for everyone.

Introduction & Expectations (Technopreneurship)

Hello! I am Fretzeil Mae V. Sumalinog, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student. I just turned 20 years old last July 6, 2012. I am simple and music-minded person. I expect in this subject that it will give me an idea on what really Technoprenuership is all about and I will know more deeply about it as well as on how to apply it in real life and know the different aspects of Technoprenuership. I also expect that my facilitator will be a good and flexible in terms of facilitating.

3 idiots Movie Reflection

After watching the movie "3 IDIOTS", your reflections on the 3 characters, which one would you choose?

It all started in the college days of three best buddies: Farhan Qureshi, Raju Rastogi, and Rancchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad “Rancho” at the Imperial College of Engineering, India. Farhan, is one of the many college students who was forced to pursue his parent’s dream of becoming an engineer. Rajuis a poor lad who strives hard to get good grades yet he still gets low marks. He hopes to land a good job someday for the sake of his family; while Rancho, the one who stands out among the crowd, studies engineering for his passion of machines and devices. However, due to his different approach in studying, Rancho incurs the wrath of the dean of college, Professor Viru “Virus” Shahastrabuddhe. Rancho criticizes his professor’s style of teaching for lacking enthusiasm and understanding in discussing their lessons; thus this leads to a series of conflicts. In contrast, Virus’s favorite student, Chatur “Silencer” Ramalingam, believes in memorizing over understanding in order to be a successful engineer. Chatur is the typical student who studies without passion. Things become more complicated when Rancho falls in love with Virus’s daughter, Pia; a girl whom he met when he crashed a wedding party. At their senior year, Chatur was humiliated for giving a ridiculous speech in front of everybody because Rancho pulled a prank on him. Chatur found out and then he promised to get revenge by insisting on becoming more successful than Rancho.

After ten years, Chatur, now a successful millionaire, is boastful that he has surpassed Rancho and he was also looking forward to sealing a deal with a famous scientist and prospective business associate named Phunsukh Wangdu. Having lost contact with Rancho after graduation, Chatur, Farhanand Raju goes on a journey to search for Rancho. On their adventure, they found out that the Rancho they knew of was not the real Rancho. Rancchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad was just a wealthy guy who made a deal with their best friend. The real Rancho wanted the fake Rancho to earn a college degree for him by acting undercover as him, the real Rancho. In exchange for this, the real Rancho will provide the fake Rancho his tuition fees and his needs as long as he “gives” him a good educational background. The real Rancho reveals that the fake Rancho is now a school teacher in Ladakh. When Chatur found about this, he laughed to his pleasure and mocks Rancho for becoming an ordinary school teacher despite of his grades. Raju, Farhan, Chatur, and Pia goes to Rancho’s school. Pia and the fake Rancho rekindles their love. Chatur hurriedly asks Rancho to sign on a “Declaration of Defeat” document. When the fake Rancho’s friends ask for his real name, he reveals that he is actually Phunsuk Wangdu. Chatur was horrified when he heard of this; he swallows his pride and pleads his case to Phunsukh that he establishes the business deal he was after.

I liked the film. It is quite entertaining and at the same time educational especially for the attitude of each student and their respective school educational system. I would recommend you to watch it if you have not already seen it. Over and over again, I have seen other people believing in messages that actors in the movies deliver.  If you are not able to properly judge the message you are at a big loss. Just do not believe in what you would like to believe. In my own point of view, the exclusive responsibility of a movie is to interest people and not to just convey any messages. The perception of the movie might try to thrust some awareness to the public. Such messages should not be blindly believed. If you contemplate, our education system must radically change; I would like to bring to your notification a lot of other things that needs to be drastically rehabilitated. Our political system, work culture, humanity and so many other things necessitate a radical change. You name it. Nothing is really perfect in this world. Then again, there is no point simply bitching about fragmented systems. As far as I know, people who surpassed the charts did not just demitasse up things. They understood the ideas. They knew what they were responsibility for. Here and there you could notice some students getting good grades just by mugging up certain things. There is of course certain thing that needs to be transformed in a distinctive engineering course. For instance, in programming exam, the computer science students are asked to write, compile and run one of the thirty programs they studied the whole semester. What is the point if the programs do not change in the exams? I do not see a huge problem in the college shown in the movie. The students that suffered were those that did not like what they are doing. "And all of a sudden, here comes a movie, which completely ridicules our education system and paints a rather incorrect and drastically over exaggerated picture, and the so called educated young crowd is adoring it and playing along with the theme, as if to ascertain the facts.  "It depends how you see it. If you ask me, the movie does not mockery the Indian education system. The movie is about an ideal and typical student who is supposed to be smarter than everyone else including his instructors. Certain facts shown in the movie are true. There are a lot of parents that think engineering is the only safe way for their sons and daughters to pursue a good career. Especially the software engineering course. Forcing children to study what don't like is nothing new, it actually happens in reality. The extreme concern for son’s or daughter's career predictions is a problem related to parental psychology. It will not help, if you try to change the education system. I preserve Winston Churchill's statement - "A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do". If you try to chase a career in what you do best, chances are plentiful. But there is no guarantee. The argument holds good for engineering too. If you pass out and get an engineering degree, there is no guarantee you will get a profitable job. Let's leave the advantage cases out of reckoning for now. Getting suicide ideas from movies is not new, is it? If you try to blame movies for showing suicides and crimes there cannot be any entertainment. The engineering students are supposed be adults and have the ability to judge a movie. That was all about the movie. Well in this film I realize and familiarize some lines that the characters in the movie delivered. First of this is "Whatever the problem in life is…  just say to yourself 'Aal Izz Well'. This will not solve your problems but it will give the courage to face it.” Another thing is “Do something you love.” – This is the lesson I learned from the movie. If you do something you really love and persevere in learning it, you will surely become successful; as long as you offer it to God. Do not be scared in being different. Ignore other’s opinions and value your own. If you let yourself to be influenced by other’s decisions, you will become like everyone else – a normal, ordinary, plain person. Deciding on doing something you dislike for your whole life would most probably give you regret; doing this is similar to being a robot. A robot just does what it’s designed to do. It is not asked what it wants to do because it is just an “it”, a thing. We are not robots to be ordered what to do! Least of us were lucky to be given an opportunity to pursue our dream; so we should make our own choice and pursue our own dreams. I like also the line there in the movie, it says "Chase Excellence and success will follow" this was the line of Rancho that really struck me most. Truly, when you do this, if you will chase excellence you will really excel in your own and of course many opportunities ahead and truly success will follow you. Unlike if you done it in the other way around you will probably fail because if you chase only success but you are not that highly competitive and excellent enough then possibly success will not be in your way. “Life is not about getting marks, grades but chasing your dreams"

These are the golden rules which 3 IDIOTS teaches you in a very light and entertaining way. The movie makes you laugh and in the process you learn many golden rules which can alter your life in a big manner. “Never try to be successful, pursue excellence.” When you pursue excellence then you are also pursuing success. “Success is the bye product and the result.” Of course, obviously as they said that when you become successful it means that you really do the right thing in your life and do what you really want to do with your life and be beneficial to others. “Excellence always creates success and it is a process of continual improvement.” True that after you graduate from school you will stop studying but instead you are continuing to develop more self and never be contented to what you only know but me flexible enough so that you will not be just in a specific field but you can say to yourself that you can do something more than what you expect for. “Never run after success.” It is obviously that many people say that they want to graduate eventually so that they can get a job and have money and be successful. For me, it is not right to have this mindset in our selves because when you have this kind of mindset what happens is it will be happening the other way around. Instead of becoming a successful person instead you will become a greedy and selfish person. A person that only think of oneself and not thinking of what are the possible things that you can contribute to the society and to help other people. “Let it happen automatically in life.” Well, this line has the coordination of what the bible says that you should let God do what He plans us to do. For short, “Thy will be done.” Because if you let it happen to your life then you can say to yourself that you are contented to what you have for the reason that God controls your life and no other else. “Freedom to Life – Life is beautiful.” Truly that life is beautiful. This line implies that what the movie shows to us that one student in the Imperial College committed suicide; I am referring to Mr. Lobo, the hopefully graduating student if he will pass his project to Virus. What I want to say is Life is a gift from God. So, why does ruined it by committing suicide. It is not right that since you are hopeless you will eventually commit suicide. But I will not blame Mr. Lobo if that what happens in his life in the movie. Yet, it will bear nothing good with that situation. So, in order to prevent this kind of situation, always seek God in your life. God is always with us. No matter how hopeless we are He is there for us 24/7 in our life. “Don’t die before the actual death. Live every moment to the fullest as if today is the last day. Life is the gifted to humankind to live. Live and live happily towards happiness.” This line is such a meaningful one because it dictates on what should be the right thing to be done, in our life naturally we have ups and downs yet it does not end there. Life has more things to come in our way. We should not ruin it by in just a single problem or trial we are already hopeless. We should give importance to what God has given us. It is free, our life is free, only thing to do is nurture it, develop it, give significance to it. Live it as what God has commanded to us and do His plan for our life. Be aware that we are His creation and not just simply a person who live in this world. More things to be do in life. Enjoy it as long as we are living. Other meaningful thing that this movie teaches me that “Passion leads to Excellence.” When your hobby becomes your profession, then passion becomes your profession. You will be able to lead up to excellence in life. Satisfaction, joy, pleasure and love will be the outcome of the passion. Following your passion for years, you will surely become somebody one day. “Learning is very simple – Never stop” Truly, we should be humble and learn every day in life. Teachers do fail, learners never fail. Learning is never complicate or difficult. Learning is always possible whatever rule you apply. One negative that we cannot prevent especially when we are a student or even at work “Pressure at head” Naturally, I believe that when we are in pressure we will know our true strength and abilities because in pressure we are molded and our skills will be visible to us, we do not expect that we can do this and that. So, let us be thankful that when we are in pressure because we will discover our true strengths. Current education system is developing pressure on students head. University intelligence is useful and making some impact in the life, but it cannot be at the cost of life. “Life is management of emotions and not optimization of intelligence.” Memory and regular study have definite value and it always helps you in leading a life. You are able to survive even if you can make some mark in the path of the life. With artificial intelligence, you can survive and win but you cannot prove yourself genius. Therefore, in this process genius dies in you. “Necessity is mother of invention”. Necessity creates pressure and forces you to invent something or to make it happen or to use your potentiality. Aamir Khan in this film, 3 Idiots, is able to prove in the film by using vacuum pump at the last moment. “Simplicity in life” Being happy and contented with your life as well as doing what God plans us to do is what makes it simple yet blessed. Life is need base never want base. Desires have no end. Simplicity is way of life and Indian culture highly stresses on simple living and high thinking, and this is the way of life: “Legs down to earth and eyes looking beyond the sky”. An Industrial Leadership, Dean of the institute in 3 Idiots is showing very typical leadership. He has his own principles, values and ideology and he leads the whole institute accordingly. This is an example of current institutional leadership. In the present scenario, most of the institutes are fixed in a block or Squarish thinking. “Trust your partner.” This scenario is showed in the movie especially the time when both Rancho’s friend Raju and Fahran become hopeless when they had both problems. In Raju’s part he commit to jump off to the building since he do not want to leave Rancho as what Mr. Virus commanded him yet Raju recover to that situation through the help of Rancho. Other one, in Fahran’s part he had a hopeless situation on how he would say to his father that he do not want engineering instead wildlife photography also Rancho helped him to give encouragement and finally he convinced his father to follow his passion in photography. Lastly, Love is time and space free. In this movie, it proves that love can overcome all the negative things in life. It makes life easier and happy live. There is a part there in the movie that Rancho makes Mr. Virus’ heart soft. During the giving birth of Mr. Virus’ daughter, that time it shows that Rancho is really intelligent because that time he do his best just to successfully give birth to Mr. Virus’ daughter despite of the problem that the electricity loss and so Rancho came to rescue and let Pia discuss with him in the computer since Pia is a doctor. So both Rancho and Pia help each other in order to make that baby live. As what expected Rancho successfully give birth to the child. Another instance, in this movie Rancho has love for Pia, even though he know that the father of Pia is Rancho’s number one enemy in this movie. Yet rancho did not hesitate to show his love but instead he shows it even though that Pia’s dad, Mr. Virus, will be angry and the number one will not approve to their love affair. But instead Rancho shows to Mr. Virus that he is worthy for his daughter Pia and he knows that he will love Pia all of his life. And I know Pia is even also in love with Rancho because of his attitude which is very opposite to what her father was. One time in the movie, Pia is to be married with the guy whom he does not love. Thank God, Fahran and Raju are there to rescue Pia from a being married to a guy who is just an opposite of Rancho. So, she decided to escape from that wedding and help the two best friends of Rancho to find him. Obviously, they had a hard time to find Rancho yet in the end. They finally found Rancho in a school which he has built up. A school which are composed of students who are just like Rancho, having a passion for studying and learning things in a different kind of educational system not like what Mr. Virus had do to them. Finally, I believe that Love really makes the world easier to live with and can destroy the entire negative that this life have.

Reflection: "Pirates of Silicon Valley"

1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

 “Pirates ofSilicon Valley” was a film based on a historical fact regarding on Steve Jobs a nd how Applegot started and also about Bill Gates and how Microsoft got started. Thefilm opens with the creation of the 
1984 commercial for AppleComputer , which introduced the first Macintosh . Steve Jobs ( Noah Wyle )is speaking with director Ridley Scott ( J. G.Hertzler ), trying to convey his idea that "We're creating a completely new consciousness." Scott,however, is more concerned at the moment with the technical aspects of thecommercial. The film then flashes forward to 1997 as Jobs, who has returned to Apple , isannouncing a new deal with Microsoft at the1997 Macworld Expo .

Steven Paul Jobs was born onFebruary 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California. His unwed biological parents,Joanne Schieble and Abdulfattah Jandali, put him up for adoption. Steve wasadopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, a lower-middle-class couple, who moved to thesuburban city of Mountain View a couple of years later. Passion,persistence and charisma are just three of his lethal combinations. Who wouldthink that a shaggy nerd of 60’s changed the way we lived life and approachedto it? A man with nothing that ended with something. And that something wasn’tjust something! It was something great that every living creatures with humanbrain hoped for—becoming successful. True, Steve Jobs did a really an excellentjob. He is now an object of envy and admiration. He is desired by many peopletoday.

His life story is earnestly followed, dissected, gossiped about, and hisexample imitated. His words are taken seriously and his advises are obeyed forthey could mean financial and personal success. In the movie Steve Jobs split his company, Apple into two camps. One theold Apple computer camp, and the other the new Macintosh development camp.After seeing this effect on the company, Steve Jobs is forced to leave hisposition at Apple. Years later the movie picks up with Steve Jobs back incommand of Apple who now has partnered with Microsoft and Bill Gates. SteveJobs was not born with silver spoon on his mouth. He’s a product ofrags-to-richest story. He did not receive acclaim of his inventions thatsudden. He worked for it. Along with his aspirations are his unrelentingefforts and dedication to his multifarious undertakings in this life. Five years later, when Steve Jobs reached college age,he told his parents he wanted to enroll in Reed College — an expensive liberalarts college up in Oregon. Even though the tuition fees were astronomical forthe poor couple, they had promised their son's biological parents he would geta college education, so they relented. Steve spent only one semester at Reed,then dropped out, as he was more interested in eastern philosophy, fruitariandiets, and LSD than in the classes he took. He moved to a hippie commune inOregon where his main activity was cultivating apples. A few months later,Steve returned to California to look for a job. He was hired at the young videogame maker Atari, and used his wages to make a trip to India with one of hiscollege friends, in order to 'seek enlightenment'. He came back a littledisillusioned and started to take interest in his friend Woz's new activities.

Steve was good in persuading people. He’s good in presenting and marketing theirproducts. He could make a ‘No’ a ‘Yes’ or the other way around. Stevetreated his obstacles as stepping stones instead of stumbling blocks. He justkept on learning and inventing by constantly experimenting with those circuitboards. Despite being someone who has nothing, he was still able to stand onhis ground. He remained determined and persistent. Though people of his time viewed noclear indications (especially in computer industry) on the advancement oftechnology, Steve Jobs made it. Jobs creativity and innovations proved them allto be wrong. Even if he was dropped out in college, his skills and talent keephim on track. One of the distinguishing factors of Steve is that he just keepon exploring. He simply did nit like sticking into the results of the otherpeople. He would rather like people would depend on the results of histhinking. Hr gave new approaches to old techniques. Better and brilliant thatno one could ever imagine until brought into reality. SteveJobs has a Passion. He just simply loves what he’s doing. Even from the days ofhis youth, he kept on exploring, learning and understanding the complexity ofthings.

Through the familiarity and skills imparted by his father who was oncea machinist, Jobs was encouraged to hone his skills. He constantly learning,building new things while still having fun. Though Jobs, at his early age,didn’t have any idea what exactly he would become in his future, all he knew heexisted to change the world. It wasn’t until he met Wozniak (who soon becamethe co-founder of Apple), he began to realized his purpose --- “revolutionizingthe world of personal computing”. Together with Wozniak, they perseveringlystrived. They exerted everything within their means and performed best andachieved what Apple has now. Steve’s Passion pushed him to become innovativeand creative. It was his passion alone that kept him on moving, working andinventing despite being fired from the company he used to helped exist. Whatthe distinguishing factor of Steve, he’s not like to those people who wouldjust turn back and get destroyed after a devastating crisis. I believed, onlydeath can stop him from innovating and being zealous. Steve Jobs taught me animportant lesson; our knowledge is not a prime necessity to become victorious.It’s our Passion. Passion alone can make us alive. There’s no question how aperson do extremely well on a field he/she simply love. Exactly like what Stevesaid “The only way to do great is to lovewhat you do.” I agree to what Steve Jobs said because it really meanthat he believe in the passion for what you do. Just like me, I can relate towhat he said. I can say that I am deeply passionate to music which is my firstlove in my life. Truly, Steve Jobs is a role model for us young persons that weshould love what we’re doing as well as inspiring others by what we arepassionately doing. Yes, sometimes we can’t prevent of our bad sides. All of ushas our bad sides in life. Though we have that it is not an excuse not to moveon and make it up with yourself. Because I believe that sometimes undergoing mistakesinlife can make your personality strong and you can say that you really moldyourself. Finally, you can really say that “I am worthy for my life.”

2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?

Before anything else, let me first define the two wordsthat made up of technopreneur . The technology and entrepreneurship.

What is entrepreneurship? It isthe act of being anentrepreneur or"one who undertakes innovations , finance and business acumen inan effort to transform innovations into economic goods ".This may result in new organizations ormay be part of revitalizing mature organizations inresponse to a perceived opportunity. The most obvious form of entrepreneurshipis that of starting new businesses (referred as Startup Company ); however, in recent years,the term has been extended to include social and political forms ofentrepreneurial activity. When entrepreneurship is describing activities withina firm or large organization it is referred to as intra-preneurship and may includecorporate venturing, when large entities spin-off organizations. So,that is the meaning of entrepreneurship.

How bout technology? It is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools , machines , techniques, crafts , systems , methods of organization, in orderto solve a problem, improve a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goalor perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of suchtools, machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures. Technologiessignificantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to controland adapt to their natural environments.

What is technopreneur? It means a business that using technology as their business model.This term only use by Asian countries.

Well, seeing myselfas technopreneur.I don’t know. As of now, I can’t say I’m good at it but one thing I can say isI am interested to become one of it. Frankly speaking, computing is notreally my field, but since I kept on encountering it, somehow my heart wasforced to love it! if only I am as fortunate as Steve jobs who discoveredhis passion at early stage of his life probably I won’t buffer this much. IfI’m a computer right now—I’m most likely hanging! Perhaps any IT student like me if ask by this question, itwould create a span of time thinking the possibility of being one. Well, ofcourse there’s a great possibility since this will be our future. Yes this willbe. Doubtless,the reason why it made me think seriously answering this questionfor my mind is already set on Steve Jobs and Bill Gates examples. They arerevolutionaries, and to be one would be amazing and at the same time edgy. Ican’t imagine myself to be like them-- geniuses who were full of determination,persistence, visions and enthusiasm. Visualizing myself as a technopreneur, anewbie technopreneur gives me a lot of exciting and unknown frontiers. It makesme feel I’m taking an exam—I don’t know what the answers are and how to answer.I have no idea where to start and how to. I’m still thinking of something thatI could offer into the community that somehow would represent me and mypassion. I never thought of setting up my own business, I’d rather go abroadand find opportunities there but now I realized there is a lot of opportunitieshere I’m just too blind to see it. Thanks a lot for the movie “Pirates of theSilicon Valley”, it made me realized Information technology doesn’t end after Igraduate nor it has an ending. Information technology has no limitations. Thething that makes it limited is the ideas of the people. We could actuallyextend the limitations through innovating. And that’s the essence of being atechnopreneur.

Reading the definitions on the net, made me conclude that itis not easy to become a technopreneur. A lot of things needed to be acquired,becoming a skilled and effective designer, researcher and a developer. knowthat being a technopreneur requires expert organizing skills in order to keepon top of everything. And being in the business, it’s no surprise that on myway I’ll be hitting a number of bumps. So, I’m just going to prepare myself forthem. Though I’m not that kind of business oriented person but one way oranother I’m not closing myself to be productive in this industry. I’ll try tobe innovative and creative of making my own simple things on my own simpleworld. I’ll try pouring out something great from something better and good.Despite the fact that technopreneurship is a difficult adventure since it takesa lot of assignment and planning to get a business up and running, I’m willingto take risks. The brilliant thing of being atechnoprenuer ,I can make myself my own boss and accordingly accept to acceptall responsibilities for my business(that’s pretty scary though! It’s also alesson for me to be mature!). Being employed by someone else offers a slew ofadvantages, and what worst, we are under instructions. We are being commandedon what we will do. At times we are being scolded and we can’t even defendourselves from false claims that our employers might throw unto us. And gettingpaid for the hours you're on work. If you don't turn up one day then you won'tget paid. When you're self-employed and you've set up your business properlyyou'll find that certain aspects of it run by themselves (and more importantlymake money for you by themselves).Realizing this make me think again ofestablishing my own business. Not just I can earn a lot from it than just having a fix salary, it could also help my skills sharpen and of course I’m canbe a productive citizen. I’m not just helping myself but also the other peoplearound me. A number of people might disagree but it comes to realization thathaving a regular job is not always the best way of making money and supporting yourself. Although too risky, starting our own business would bring us so manyadvantage. Since a growing number of technoprenuers are existing in every partof the world today, surely, engaging myself in this business will not be justan ‘ABC’. We are all aware of course that as the number of people engaging inthe same field increases,the narrower the probability for us to excel in it right? However, technology offers us a wide variety of opportunities,no need tobe alarm.yeah. so maybe I will just take everything slowly.

3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not?

Noah Wyle's role as Steve Jobs focuses on darker sides of Mr. Jobs including hiabusiveness, drugs, and especially his reaction to his illegitimate daughterwhich he denies is his. Noah does effectively capture the genius of Mr. Jobswhile simultaneously showing his "mercurial" side. In my opinion thereal protagonist of the story was Steve Jobs not only because he got featuredmore in the film but also I admire his determination to uplift the name ofApple. Sure, he got some attitude problem going on but he did becomesuccessful, right? He also had flair in talking people into something but youreally would not want to cross him when he’s angry or everything will just comeexploding.

In the movie Steve Jobs split his company, Apple into two camps. One the old Applecomputer camp, and the other the new Macintosh development camp. After seeingthis effect on the company, Steve Jobs is forced to leave his position atApple. Years later the movie picks up with Steve Jobs back in command of Applewho now has partnered with Microsoft and Bill Gates. As of now, werecognized Steve Jobs as a great technopreneur. SJ'sinevitable skills in the field of technology made him one of the wealth icons.Steve Job's is such an inspiration especially for the youth craving forknowledge. Just having thoughts that he started his career at very young ageand become successful bring me to reality that I must also begin the stepstowards my future. Steve Jobs is just another awesome creature. He is anincredible human being created by God to transform the people’s lifestyle.

It is not that easy totake the same career path of Steve Jobs took. I will not make myself engage inanything that I don’t want to be. Steve Jobs did his best to become asuccessful and I believe also that this is what God wants him to be. I won’ttake the same path of career of Steve Jobs; instead I would make his factors tosuccess as my inspirations when deciding my career to be taken up in thefuture. I will distinguished first my wants and try to develop it and make someinnovations with it and then try to develop my own wants. On how Steve Jobsruns his company is just a not a matter of who gets the idea first, but whodelivers it to market successfully as with the XEROX Graphical User Interface.I know I have the ideas but still it is not worth to pursue what Steve Jobsearned today. Instead I will make my own way to make myself a goodtechnopreneur someday. I need a help with my friends that are also wants toengage their lives in developing a new technologies. We will make a team that cannotbe broke of anything that’s trying to fall us down. It is not about all bymyself, it’s all about how we can make things possible together with them. Byhaving them in each of our sides I insure that we can make difference byfounding our own company someday. We will consider our success in each andeveryone. Today it’s impossible to make your own business without the help ofothers; we should know when to call someone that can help us. Choosing your career is not what you intend you want to be, it isa matter of choice that you want to be whether you continue this one or not. Itis some kind of go forward or go backward. Once you made your choice you muststand by it. Still have faith in order for you to attain this one. Steve Jobschoose his passion which is the “personal computer” thing over his schooling.He dropped out at the first semester when he found out that he has thecapability to develop such things that could contribute to every people’slives. What he did or his sacrifice or his choices he made in his previouslife, definitely, I cannot do those things. Right now I cannot do any thingsthat matters with a choice. I cannot decide what I should take or to pursue andwhat is not, what I think to myself right now, is “I am a dependent person”, Iam afraid of losing anything around me regardless with its importance. By thisattitude of mine, I know I cannot be a successful technopreneur someday, Idon’t have the guts, confidence, and I am not really engaging myself with abusiness. At this time this is just only what I think, I am not pointinganything that I don’t want to be a technopreneur. By enrolling this subjectcourse, I know I will have some ideas to gain and enable to develop it; and aswell as my weakness would be my key to my success someday. As I encounter anysituations in my life, maybe this situation would be my basis to build, make ordevelop my business. I can have world renowned team members for my company andI will be able to manage, improve and develop my business. But with the help ofmy family, friends and the people surrounding around me I know I have the willand the strength to carry it through out of my life while facing the harms andthe possibilities to engage myself in such things that could brought to achange not just for myself but with everyone who live this world.

Generally speaking, all of us has different wants and needs in life. As well as we havevarious ways of enjoying our life and choosing our true passion in life. For me,I won’t consider myself as a technopreneur someday. Yes, it is true that maybeI am into something else yet the movie just really give me an idea on how to become one. Though I will not exactly follow his exact footsteps and endeavorin what he achieved in life. Aside from that, we have lots of dreams andambitions in our life. I believe through that we will take different paths aswe walk throughout this life. Frankly speaking, becoming successful is really agreat feeling but for me what matters most is the attitude of the person on howhe achieved his success and as well as on what is his attitude in achievingthat certain dream he had. Well, I strongly believe that the attitude of acertain person counts! Rather than having a smart and intelligent enough personbut the attitude was very severe and cannot be take anymore. So, whatever Iwill become someday I won’t forget what this movie teaches a lesson to me aboutbecoming successful in our ways. That was it, I won’t follow Steve Jobs careerpath but I will follow his positive attitude such as being patient toeverything that comes and most of all being truly passionate to the things thatyou want and develop your skills for the other’s sake. Truly Steve Jobs inspired me through his own ways. I want also to inspire others in my own andnatural way. I know God has a purpose for everything and He knows what is bestfor us. So all we have to do is nurture our talents and present them to God andshare to other people while inspiring others as well.

In a multiprogramming and time-sharing environment, several users share the system simultaneously. This situation can result in various security problems. Name at least two of these problems. Can we ensure the same degree of security in a time-share machine as we have in a dedicated machine?

First and foremost, let me define the meaning of multiprogramming as well as time-sharing. Multiprogramming refers to the allocation of a computer system and its resources to more than one concurrent application, job or user (“program” in this nomenclature). Initially, this technology was sought in order to optimize use of a computer system, since time and processing resources were often wasted when a single job waited for human interaction or other data input/output operations. Its capability was developed as a future of operating system the late 1950s and came into common use in mainframe computing in the mid-to late 1960s. This followed the development of hardware systems that processed the requisite circuit logic and instruction sets to facilitate the transfer of control between the operating system and one more independent applications, users or job streams. The use of multiprogramming was enhanced by the arrival of virtual memory and virtual machine technology, which enabled individual programs to make use of memory and operating system resources as if other concurrently running programs were, for all practical purpose, non-existent and invisible to them. Multiprogramming should be differentiated from multi-tasking since not all multiprogramming entails—or has the capability for—“true” multi-tasking. This is the case even thought the use of multi-tasking generally implies the use of some multiprogramming methods. In this context, the root word “program” does not necessarily refer to a compiled application, rather, any set of commands submitted for execution by a user or operator. Such could include a script or job control stream and any included calls to macro-instructions, systems utilities or application program modules. An entire, interactive, logged in user session can be thought for as a “program” in this sense.

On the other hand, time-sharing means the sharing of computer resource among many users by means of multiprogramming and multi-tasking. By allowing a large number of users to interact concurrently with a single computer, time-sharing dramatically lowered the cost of providing computing capability, made it possible for individuals and organizations to use a computer without owning one, and promoted the interactive use of computers and the development of new interactive applications. In time-sharing systems, the running task is required to relinquish the CPU, either, voluntarily or by an external event such as a hardware interrupt. Time sharing systems are designed to allow several programs to execute apparently simultaneously. The expression ‘time sharing’ was usually used to designate computers shared by interactive users at terminals, such as IBM’s TSO, and VM/CMS.

After I have define what multiprogramming and time-sharing is, now my turn to answer what are the possible security problems that may occur during this situation. A program generally comprises numerous tasks, a task being a relatively small group of processor instruction of a continuous-running application program. A task frequently ends with some request requiring the moving of data, a convenient opportunity to allow another program to have system resources, particularly CPU time.

My first answer will be, there will have an increasing possibility of hacking a certain files of the certain user as well as being prone and may lead to uncertain doing such as having a copyright to a certain files that supposedly and restrictedly to be copied or maybe opening of uncertain and private documents of the user. So it is not really safe to have this sharing the system simultaneously aside from this, it will lower the execution of the programs and different jobs. Another one is there will be a big possibility that the files of the user will be interchange because of the time-sharing method or resource usage may not be completely controlled. There are huge chances of losing your files or maybe there comes the time that your files have unknown documents and sometimes as what I have observed it is the way where viruses attack. They will disguise as a new file but surprisingly it is already a virus. To a great extent, the ability of a system to share its resources equitably—or according to a certain priorities—is dependent upon the design of the programs being handled and how frequently they may be interrupted.

Lastly, my answer for the question, “Can we ensure the same degree of security in a time-share machine as we have in a dedicated machine?”, my response will be probably not, since any protection scheme devised by a human can also be broken—and the more complex the scheme is, the more difficult it is to be confident of its correct implementation. Moreover, when multiple programs are present in memory, an ill-behaved program may (inadvertently or deliberately) overwrite memory belonging to another program, or even to the operating system itself. So we cannot really ensure the same degree of security in a time-sharing machine.
